Description
The MXR M400 Turbo Tuner Pedal brings the core tuning engine of the Sonic Research Turbo Tuner into a road-ready MXR format, making it a strong choice for players who want strobe-level accuracy without slowing down between songs. Sonic Research founder Roger Schlichtig personally handled the engineering, retaining the real-time strobe display and fraction-of-a-cent precision that made the original Turbo Tuner a professional favorite. Whether you're setting intonation at the bench, tracking in the studio, or checking tuning during a set, the M400 is built to give you a precise reading quickly.
Five customizable presets accommodate instruments with up to 12 strings and support tuning offsets of up to ±50 cents, so you're not limited to a basic six-string setup or standard tuning. Four display brightness levels help keep the strobe readable across dark stages and bright outdoor gigs. The bypass section is unusually flexible for a tuner as well, with selectable true or buffered bypass and three buffered submodes, letting the M400 serve a larger role in how your pedalboard signal is managed.
A 9V passthrough output can power another pedal from the M400, helping simplify power distribution on a crowded board, while USB-C provides a path for firmware updates and upcoming editor software. We like that MXR and Sonic Research kept the focus on what matters most here: fast, extremely precise tuning, with enough configuration and utility features to make the tuner useful well beyond the mute switch.
