Description
A truly lovely L-3 with an authentic vintage vibe. The tone is sweet & vibrant & the guitar is such a joy to play.
Cosmetic Condition: Various nicks, chips, dents & dings; scratches, weather checking & some finish blemishes/wear. There's a crack in the top of the body, under the pickguard, that was professionally glued by us. Overall the guitar has a great look to it with a beautiful patina.
Neck: Super chunky V-shaped mahogany neck with nicely aged white binding & black side-dots. A small section of the binding was replaced on the bass-side of the neck near the nut. Ebony fingerboard with mother of pearl dot inlays. Frets are in great shape with not much wear. Open-gear strip tuners with ivoroid buttons. 1 11/16" nut width with unoriginal nut; 24 1/4" scale length. The neck was professionally reset & there is finish touch up on either side of the neck heel. The neck is not entirely straight. The action is a little higher than what most modern players prefer, but the guitar is still quite playable & the action at the 12th fret is about 3/16".
Body: Double bound maple back & sides with some nice flame figuring in the arched back. Hand-carved solid spruce top in natural finish. Multi-ring ivoroid & herringbone rosette with bound soundhole. Mounted tortoise pickguard, nickel trapeze tailpiece & unoriginal compensated ebony bridge on a floating ebony base. There are no electronics & the guitar weighs a delightful 3 lbs 11 oz.
Case: Unoriginal hardshell case included.
